MY 5-9

Choreographing routines. Training teams. Winning championships.

For over 5 years, I've channeled my love for detail, structure, and strategy into coaching competitive and all-star cheer. Training young athletes that are new to the sport or competitive level, to winning championships while instilling strong work ethic.

Team Final Performances

After a year of training and competing, my teams close out their season at the biggest competition of the year in Orlando, FL at The Summit. Below are videos of the routines that showcase a year's worth of hard work in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

The Cheerleading Mat vs. The Canvas File

"Precision routines are design systems in motion."

When I step away from the screen, I coach competitive cheerleading. Many are surprised by the parallel, but the underlying mechanisms of coaching athletes and managing product lines are identical.

In competitive cheer, teams are scored on timing, execution, and difficulty. A routine consists of multiple individual elements that must merge into a unified show that entices the judges. If a single flyer is off, the score drops and what would've been a championship title ends in a 3rd place finish.

Designing high-fidelity software follows this exact blueprint:

Choreographing routines & Designing UX

The order and flow of a routine's sections take a judge on a journey toward a top score — the same way a well-sequenced user flow takes a user on a journey toward a purchase, and a reason to return.

📊

Feedback & Iteration Loops

Every competition ends with a scoresheet — judges' specific feedback on where we lost points. We take it back to the gym, refine those exact areas, and come back stronger. Products improve the same way: user feedback and analytics surface friction points, and each iteration should move satisfaction and retention forward.

Safety Rules vs. Accessibility Standards

In cheer, safety rules are non-negotiable guidelines that protect every athlete on the floor. In digital design, WCAG accessibility standards serve the same purpose: they are the digital safety rules that guarantee every user, regardless of ability, can safely navigate the system.

The Wins

I apply the same dedication to core growth on the mat as I do to product success in the design studio.

While rankings and scorecards are rewarding metrics, the true wins in coaching lie in witnessing the personal growth of the athletes. Throughout the season, seeing individuals build physical strength, master complex skills, and develop mental resilience is the most fulfilling part of the journey.

My coaching goes beyond choreographing routines; it is about cultivating teamwork, teaching athletes how to navigate high-pressure situations, and instilling a lifetime work ethic. The championship wins and trophies are the cherry on top of a season dedicated to personal and team development—our key titles are displayed below.
